So, beauty! Talk us through your journey. I started out working behind the beauty counter and loved mixing and matching products and colours to make the perfect shades for my clients. It’s a great feeling instilling self-esteem and confidence into women. Happy 20th birthday, Too Faced. What are you doing to celebrate? We are celebrating with an amazing collection called Cheers to 20 Years – throwbacks from 1998 reimagined with a 2018 twist, including an eye palette, glitter lips and limited-edition Better Than Sex mascara. We also conducted the biggest model search in the history of Too Faced to make a dream come true for one lucky girl, who became the face of the entire collection.
Where does your product inspiration come from? I get inspiration from everything around me; even the smallest detail could ignite a new idea for a product or even an entire collection. For example, the chocolate idea was born from a chocolate facial I had on a trip to Hawaii. I learned about all the skin-loving benefits that came from cocoa powder and I knew I had to figure out a way to infuse that into our products. What are the most important things that great make-up can achieve? The most important thing make-up can achieve is to instil self-esteem into somebody. How you look in the mirror impacts how you feel about yourself. If someone looks in the mirror and has achieved the best version of themselves then I’ve done my job.
Why did you choose Carnaby to open your first ever Too Faced store? London is home to our largest demographic, and I knew Carnaby was the perfect place for my first ever store because historically it has been a place for beauty, fashion, fun and rebellious glamour. What’s special about the Carnaby store and why is it a must-visit for beauty fans? I wanted it to feel like a Too Faced amusement park, with different experiences for each product and Instagrammable moments everywhere you turn. It’s fun and fabulous and our customers get to experience our products in 3D. What are your favourite Too Faced products right now? Better Than Sex was the most difficult product I’ve ever created and the one I’m most proud of. Hangover Primer loves your skin even when you don’t, and Born This Way Foundation is a foundation we formulated that looks like your skin (but better) without sacrificing coverage.
