May 1926 ing occurred in one of our local hos pitals. Quite a large part of our work is to visit the men who are jlajd up on beds of pain in such places.M* Going into the hospital recently for a visit to the bedside of one man our Brother Stuchbery was minded to deal with him definitely about the matter of his personal salvation, and again we were reminded of how wonderfully God prepares the way and the worker, for there Christ met them face to face. Before leaving the ward, not only the man he had gone to speak to definitely had been saved, but also ,two other men in the same room were led to ac cept the Lord Jesus. We might go on and tell about some special evangelistic campaigns which we have been conducting where God has been mightily blessing, or tell you of the special work that is going on in the hearts and lives of the people of our own church where we minister, but lack of space forbids, and we can only again urge, you to reach up into the Omnipotent hand of God on behalf of the work which He has committed to us. ¿He. m WORK AMONG THE IEWS David L. Cooper, Supt.—Bible Classes and Personal Work, Street Meetings and Semi monthly Mass Meetings lor Jews of Los Angeles. Bi-monthly Meeting ¡T& W JHE last regular bi-monthly Jewish meeting was in many respects one of the best we have had. The attendance as a whole seemed larger, while the Jewish part of the audience increased proportionately. After a message in song, the regular offering was taken for relief work among our poor Jewish people. The writer de livered the second ot a series of- lec tures on the Jewish section of the hook of Romans, which was followed by testimonies of the Jewish believers, at the conclusion of which a Jewess confessed her Lord and Messiah in baptism, which act of faith brought joy and gladness to all hearts. Prayer Meetings 'The regular prayer meetings are bringing up the spiritual temperature of the department. God is answering prayer in a marked and manifest way. Each week the department puts out a “ Praise and Prayer” sheet on which are given some of the answers to prayer, and a list of urgent requests to bring before the throne of grace. These sheets are given to those inter ested in the work. A bit of informa tion is given concerning each case for which prayer is requested in order that those receiving the sheet may pray Intelligently, definitely, and in faith. If any readers of The King’s Busi ness desire to assist in the work by prayer, please write us; we shall be glad to mail a copy of “ Praise and Prayer” each week. Street Meetings The regular weekly street meeting is conducted as usual and is being blessed of the Lord. While there is much opposition on the part of some, (Continued on page 296)

job as well as suitable clothing. It was bard to break away. He said, “ I have wanton to do this for eighteen years, but the pride of my heart kept me back. I want to hear more.” It was Wonderful to note the change of expression as his new found joy swept all marks of despondency away. We did what we could to look after his needs,— a place to sleep, food for his body and a nice suit of clothes with fresh linen. As he stood forth in all his new life and outward transforma tion it would be difficult to tell which of us was the happiest. Thus one day which promised to prove dull and drab closed with a glorious break through the clouds, with the Sun of Righteousness in all His. beauty flooding our souls with praise and thanksgiving to Him who doeth all things well. m * m WORK IN THE SHOPS Marion H. Reynolds, Supt.—Meetings held in Shops, Factories, Car-Barns and Fire Engine Houses in Los Angeles. H ORK in the Shop Department has been going along with an increasing interest this past month. Aside from vis iting many of the division points on the Union Pacific and Santa Fe much interest has been taken in the local shops. Only recently in one of the shops as the message was being given we saw the tears come into a man’s eyes and felt that the Spirit of God was moving on the hearts of the people. Closing the message a few minutes before the whistle blew, we were enabled to speak definitely to this man, and found him just waiting to be dealt with by one who could lead him into the light. Another incident showing the spe cial way in which God has been lead

vertisements, in eastern papers, as well as to get away from all that would remind him of the past, but had met with bitter disappointment, hopes crushed, weary days hunting work, of sleepless nights, door after door had been slammed in his face, no one interested or caring. Willing to work, at first he had tried along the lines familiar to him, but this failing, he had offered to do anything. Gradually his clothes were sold or pawned, till, reduced to an old pair of jeans, he was ashamed to apply save for the most menial and roughest labor. We found him perfectly willing to listen to another story which dates back even farther than the story of man’s sin and faithlessness. He had never been clearly and definitely brought face to face with the great question, “ What then will I do with Jesus, which is called Christ?" Like so many who are profoundly ignorant of the Scriptures, he was confusing “ churchianity” with Christianity, but as the simple story of the meaning and message of the Cross was presented we prayerfully led up to the necessity of a definite exercise of faith in the re cord concerning God’s only begotten Son and his acceptance of Him as his 'own personal Saviour, We were conscious there was little or no antagonism to meet; just a weary, heart-sick soul who needed and longed for rest. As we led him to the great moment, our heart was crying out to God that this might be the be ginning of days to him. There was a moment of profound silence; then he gripped our band and held on like a drowning man grasping at a straw, and from that moment his attitude was of one having found a haven of rest from the storm without as well as within. As we unfolded the Word of God he drank it in as a thirsty soul, seemingly oblivious to his need of a
