dren and to the loyal forces of Christ everywhere! God bless these brave soldiers of the cross as they respond to the call of five other states in the South. Jit m EIGHTH A N N U A L CONVENTION WORLD ’ S CHRISTIAN FUNDA MENTALS ASSOCIATION It will be in session in Toronto, Canada, when this magazine reaches its readers, April 25th to May 2nd, in clusive. This is the first Annual Convention of this organization to be held in Can ada. The meetings will be held in Massey Hall on Sundays, and in the Jarvis Street Baptist Church on week days. Some of the speakers who have been invited and will take part are: Dr. W . M. Robertson, Liverpool; England, the man whose letters to Dr. T. T. Shields (pastor of Jarvis Street Baptist church) started the great con troversy which is now rocking McMas- ter University to its foundations. Gerald Winrod, of Kansas, head of the Kansas anti-evolution movement. George F. Washburn, and some of his co-laborers, of the Christian Cru- sciders Dr. Paul Rood, of Turlock, Califor nia, founder of the Bryan Bible League. Dr. T. T. Shields and Dr. J. Frank Norris of the Baptist Bible Union. Dr. Arthur H. Carter, Editor of "The Bible Witness,” Hounslow, Eng land. Dr. Albert Sidney Johnston, o f Char lotte, N. C., Dr. Marion Hull, of At lanta, Ga., Harry Rimmer, of Los An geles, Calif., and a number of Canad ian Presbyterians will represent the Presbyterian denomination. Dr. W. B. Riley, Executive Secre tary of the Association, advises us that the plan this year is to have as many representatives as possible from the various fundamentalist movements present and taking part in the pro ceedings. We are planning to have a full re port of the epoch-making gathering in the June issue.

THE MENTAL SLUMP The head of the psychopathic labor atory in Chicago reports a 35 per cent increase in mental defectives. He says that out of some 3500 persons sent to him last year for examination from the various Chicago courts over 2000 were insane or feeble-minded and most of the remainder were border-line cases. According to his charts the average American of 1975 will be a mental child as compared with the ordinary adult of today. He is inclined to place a lot of the responsibility for this' mental slump upon a multiplicity of laws. People used to have will power and self-control, but laws and regula tions have now been substituted for this form of intellectual government and now a man either does as he is commanded or else escapes the issue by trick or device: The old sense of personal responsibility is now lacking. — Los Angeles Times. Ev ^ THE CRUSADERS CONTEST AND VICTORY We called attention in our last issue to a new organization, “ The Bible Crusaders of America,” banded to gether for the defense of the Bible and in opposition to the teaching of evolution in our tax-supported schools. Now word comes that Governor Whitfield signed the Mississippi Anti- Evolution bill on March 11, and this victory was directly due to the efforts of these Bible Crusaders, under the able leadership of George F. Wash burn, their Director-General, who says of the campaign: “ This achievement is remarkable for a new organization. We Assigned ten prominent lecturers to Florida, who held mass meetings in three- fourths of the cities of the state, in which we demanded that Gruenberg’s Biology be eliminated from the Public Schools of Florida. This intensive campaign resulted in a decision by the Department of Public Instruction to substitute a new edition of Gruen berg’s Biology with Evolution elim inated. Victory number one. "Only two months ago we were sud denly summoned to Mississippi to rally and lead the Fundamentalist forces of that State, because an Anti-Evolution Bill had been Introduced in the Legis lature. Our lecturers held many mass meetings. Dr. T. T.: Martin addressed the Legislature, and we summoned more than two thousand ministers and laymen to assist us. “ This intensive campaign quickly aroused an indifferent people and turned utter defeat into an overwhelm ing victory in both the House and Senate, where both legislative com mittees had repudiated the bill and its passage seemed hopeless. It was a bat tle royal. The fullest credit is given the Crusaders by Mississippians. Vic tory number two.” This movement is the result of the investment of a Christian business man, George F. Washburn, who is back of it with a hundred thousand dollars. Let The King’s Business Family rise and give these valiant defenders of the truth a cheer of encouragement. Think what it will mean to thousands of chil
