MAKE BUILDING EASY!
It’s Our Promise to You
The crispness of fall is around the corner, but we are expecting housing activity to slowly heat up, not cool down. For many of our builders, and in most of our markets, our customers were slow and cautious during the first half of the year, but there are now more stories and information suggesting people are finally convinced it’s not a bad time to build. They’re seeing other builders do well in a market with little to no existing housing inventory, and buyers have adjusted to the reality of higher mortgage rates and are impatient about waiting any longer on a needed home purchase. All this adds up to expectations for a strong fall, at least relative to the spring and summer. We want to capitalize on this opportunity with both new and existing customers. This year-plus season of ups and downs in housing has forced or allowed many builders to reevaluate their suppliers, resize their business, or shift to focusing on different products or markets. We have every opportunity to capitalize on these changes and help every preferred customer or prospect see us as their preferred supplier.
helpful as possible. Every one of us has a hand in making this vision, reputation, and experience a reality for customers. All the small actions and steps we take as individuals add up to a collective experience that will either make building
challenging for our customers or make building easy. We want to create wow experiences, experiences that feel so anticipatory
and attentive that it seems almost magical. We can do this. You can do this. We can finish the last four months of the year delivering one customer experience after another that persuades customers and prospects that no supplier cares more, does better, or offers more value than FBS.

also significantly propelled us closer to our goals. His attention to detail and solution-oriented mindset have been amazing. Wendell’s willingness to assist others and share his expertise is a testament to his selflessness and team spirit. I wanted to give Wendell a High Five and thank him for his extraordinary efforts and dedication. Please know that your hard work does not go unnoticed, and we truly value the contributions you bring to the team.” Wow To: James Shrewsbury, Jayar Lamadrid, Jared Wallace, TVID Interior From: Duane Dowell, TVID Interior “I would like to give a High Five to James, Jayar, and Jared from our Treasure Valley Cabinet Install and Finish team. They went out to help repair some drawers for the brother of one of our customers, the designer for Chapman Homes. This client doesn’t give out compliments lightly, and when he does, it’s heartfelt. He called me today to say our guys were A+ across the board. He commented on their professionalism, their knowledge of their craft, their positive attitudes, and the quality of their work. Needless to say, they were wowed and appreciative of our guys. Way to knock it out of the park, guys.”
Guide To: McCall Inside Sales From: Ben Thomas, McCall
“We’ve struggled with accuracy lately, but the sales counter has made some big strides in making sure the customer is getting what they paid for. One simple adjustment — taking clipboards out into the yard when loading customers. High five to Wayne, Ashley, Rod, Josh, Andie, Dean, and Anthony for striving toward a more accurate experience.”
Strive To: KC Croner, Fruitland From: Dana Parker, McCall
“KC found two windows at the Fruitland yard that the vendor should have delivered to our location in McCall. KC called me and gave me a heads- up. Now we know about the problem before the builder. Thank you, KC!”
Easy To: Ty Eldred and Dirk Redfern From: Jeff Keeney, TVID Exterior
Safety To: Wendell Thompson, SCI From: Ritchie Rodriquez, Boise Cabinet Shop
“As most of you know, TVID Exterior had a large influx in siding here recently, and Ty and his team were having a hard time finding time to get the remaining stock put away while getting the deliveries out. Ty reached out to ask for help, and our friend Dirk offered a couple of people to help get the inventory put away. This is an example of working together to be a problem-solving organization! Good on Ty for reaching out and Dirk and his team for being so willing to help, thank you all!”
“I wanted to reach out and express my gratitude for the help that Wendell has been putting in with our team. Wendell has played an invaluable role in helping the cabinet department as we have been trying to finalize manufacturing five-piece texture doors and the processes involved with making that happen. Wendell’s contributions have not only enhanced our team’s overall performance but have

selection and wowing our customers with a cool new experience. We will expand our power tools and add more brands to increase options for our pros. The store will have a much better overall flow and feel for our customers
In January 2023, Trevor Custer took over as general manager and Frank Cardenas moved into the store manager position. Together, they decided to give the store interior a massive face-lift. The location hasn’t had a remodel since 1992, so it was time for upgrades and improvements.
Step one was demolishing the old counter to make space for a new and improved sales counter closer to the front entrance. We are also remodeling the bullpen and employee desk area. The store will be redesigned, the aisles moved, and the interior will get a new coat of paint for a more modern look. On the retail floor, the focus is on improving product
and employees. Another unique feature we’re adding is a contractors’ lounge so our contractors can have a place to take a break and look over plans. As the pictures show, we’re just getting started. Trevor is standing behind the sharp new sales counter, constructed by one of our local customers. The painting crew will be starting soon. This has been a team effort as we worked with Gabe Dworshak, our reps, and our customers to finalize product selections and begin our reset! If you are in the area, please stop in for a visit. We would love to show you around!

‘Train Your Money to Sit’ TRAINING EMPLOYEES FOR FINANCIAL SUCCESS
As an employee-owned company, we have a unique interest in our company’s financial performance. But what about our own? I used to frame houses before the ‘08-’09 housing market collapse. Overtime was abundant, and I was in the hustle, making decent money. However, I remember one payday in particular. It was lunchtime, and the foreman just handed out paychecks. As we all sat around in the shade of the tool container, we opened them up in between bites of our various sandwiches. My lead guy, a former punk rocker in his early 30s, was sitting on the tailgate of his truck a few feet away from me. After he saw his check, he grabbed his red and white Igloo lunchbox and
wages to pay back child support, making his two-week paycheck much less than he expected. While this anecdote certainly does not show model employee-owner behavior, I use it as a cautionary tale when coaching younger employees. Inattention to financial obligations will catch up eventually, and living paycheck to paycheck is a precarious situation to be in when unexpected expenses occur. Franklin cares about our financial wellness and will continue to provide tools to help! Throughout Q1 and Q2, Franklin’s money coach, Janice Pierce of Achieve Finance, visited each FBS location. She has a program called Train Your Money to Sit, an online course comprised of 28 short lessons teaching money management. The program is valued at $100, but FBS employees can take the entire course online for FREE. The course is taken at your pace, and Janice has even permitted us to share it with family members. The recordings are 11 minutes long and will help you learn how to budget, save, enjoy your money, and set meaningful financial goals. We hope you will take advantage of this tool.

Building Up to a Strong Winter High Fives! Our Elko Location Is Upgrading! Strong Finances Require Planning October Birthdays and Anniversaries In the Spotlight
Brenton’s 9-Year Impact at FBS IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Brenton Black has been a part of our FBS family for nine years in specialty sales at our Twin Falls location — almost an entire decade! She helps our contractors and customers make flooring and tile choices to assemble the home and spaces of their dreams. Behind the scenes, Brenton conducts field measurements, facilitates quotes, and places orders. “I really enjoy meeting new people and getting to know them while learning about what they like and what they don’t like,” she tells us. “Seeing their excitement once their design comes together is always special.” After nine years with the company, we’ve gotten to know and trust Brenton. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to swing by our Twin Falls location and work with her, you
understand when we say that she is a great representation of the values that Franklin Building Supply was founded on. When she’s not holding down the fort at work, Brenton loves spending time with her family and cat and letting her adventurous spirit run wild. She’s visited six of the seven continents, gone skydiving over the Egyptian pyramids, and has a soft spot for exploring nature. In November, she will cross the seventh continent off her bucket list! Brenton, we are so lucky you have chosen to call FBS home for the past nine years, and thank you for always putting our customers first and working hard! You are the best!
Across all our locations, one thing remains the same: We take pride in our team. Whether they have been with Franklin Building Supply for six months or six years, we know we can trust our team members to get the job done right and, more importantly, to take care of our customers.
