CHAIR LETTER
As the Chair of the 2024 Annual Giving Campaign for the Heart of the Valley YMCA, I am thrilled to present opportunities to impact and enrich our community through Y programs and services such as:
• Early Childhood Education Centers (catering to families seeking affordable, high-quality childcare and preschools education) • Youth initiatives (aimed at shaping a brighter future for our young generations) • Chronic Disease Prevention (efforts that harness the Y’s commitment to healthy living with purpose) • Athletic opportunities for children, youth, and adults (that encourage team building and social engagement) and much, much more. In 2023, we provided close to $3 million in financial aid and scholarships for a range of programs and services. Our goal is to expand this support even more in 2024. Your contributions directly benefit children, individuals, and families in our community. Every donation makes a meaningful difference. We collaborate closely with nonprofit organizations that share our ethos of enhancing the North Alabama community we call home. Our commitment to expansion is unwavering, as we forge new partnerships each year, thereby bolstering our capacity to serve effectively. I am deeply honored to have been selected as the campaign chair for 2024 and extend a warm invitation for you to stand with me in strengthening our community through Y programs and services. One out of every five individuals have a story intertwined with the Y. We would love to weave ourselves into yours. Respectfully, Orlis Moss 3

TESTIMONIALS
“As a single mother of five, I faced challenges managing my preschool-aged son’s behavior, my non-verbal toddler, and a newborn baby while my other two children were in school. The YMCA offered financial support for my children to join the Early Childhood Education Program. This assistance transformed my son’s behavior, improving his respectfulness and academic performance, while my daughter blossomed into a happy talker. This lifeline gave me hope, allowing me to strategize for the future and witness my children thriving.” - Mrs. Sanders
“Having been a lifelong member of the YMCA and actively participating in many programs, I can confidently attest to the transformative impact it has had on my life. From fostering the friendships, I have developed to promoting my physical fitness and personal growth, the YMCA has been a constant source of support for me. Its inclusive environment and dedicated staff have truly made it a second home.” - Cindy J.

“Participating in YMCA classes has truly changed my life at 70. The classes have helped me improve my overall health, both physical and emotions. I have been reunited with members of my community after the loss of my husband. The instructors have made the classes the highlight of my weeks. The friends I have made help to keep me coming and help me feel young and stay active.” - Mary P.
“As a small family with the income of two artists, we were pleased to discover the Y’s membership flexibility and scholarship offerings. The process to apply was straightforward and the Y was able to offer us a membership price that was within our budget. The facilities and staff have always been clean and welcoming, and the scholarships gave us the avenue to get started working out again on our own schedule in order to focus on our health and wellbeing. We are excited to grow with the YMCA and hope to remain members for years to come.” - Emmie M.
