A Higher Rate of Income

both enter and control the life before we are fit for service.— J. E. Conant. •— o — March 6—" The law of the Spirit o f life in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:2). Have you ever observed in that familiar but inexhaustible chapter, the eighth of Romans, those few pregnant words, “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” ? Ponder them now. In Christ Jesus is laid up for us the fountain and the full ness of the Spirit of life. Behold in Him “the life-giving stream,” at your very lips. “He hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus.” In one sense, we all already have the fullness of the Spirit, for we are in Christ in whom that fullries is. But in another sense we have not, till we seek and receive into ourselves the fullness of His blessing. We have, by our covenant title and by our vital union. We have not, till we have used our title, till we have acted on our union. Let us do so, then, for daily life. For this old difficulty, for that inveterate fail ure, go forth, looking unto the Lord Jesus Christ, and drawing from Him the stream of the spiritual life. “I thirst for springs of heavenly life, And here all day they rise; I seek the treasure of Thy love, And close at hand it lies." wm—Handley C. G. Moule. —o— March 7—“Lo, I dm, with you alway, even unto the end of the world" (Matt. 28:20). Some of us think and say a good deal about a sense of His presence; sometimes rejoicing in it, sometimes going mourn ing all the day long because we have it not; praying for it, and not always seem ing to receive what we ask; measuring our own position and sometimes even that of others by it; now on the heights, now in the depths about it. And all this April- like gleam and gloom, instead of steady summer glow, is because we are turning our attention upon the sense of His pres ence, instead of the changeless reality of i t ! All our trouble and disappointment about it is met by His own simple word and vanishes in the simple faith that grasps it. For if Jesus says simply and absolutely, “Lo, I am with you alway,” what have we to do with feeling or “sense” about it? We have only to be lieve it and to recollect it. And it is only by thus believing and recollecting that we can realize it.— Frances R. Havergal. ■—o— March 8— “I will guide thee with mine eye” (Psa. 32:8). “Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding, whose trap pings must be bit and bridle to hold them in, else they will not come nigh unto thee” (Psa. 32:9, R. V.). The thought is the same as that in James 3 :3: “Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us." Man is peculiarly made for and sensitive to eye guidance. One glance of the eye often says more than a multitude of words, and the great secret of its power lies in the fact that it appeals to the heart. The language of the divine eye can only be interpreted by those who walk with God; strangers understand it not. To enjoy this guidance, we must set the Lord always before us; we must

The Shadduck Books If Russellites work in your community, "Seven Thunders" will prove the most ef fective antidote ever printed. It offers pho tographic evidences that will convince all except those who refuse to think. It is one book the “Dawn" people will not attempt to answer. If there is a teacher or preacher in your neighborhood who rejects parts of the Bi ble, "Gee-Haw" will make more trouble for him than any 20 cents worth of paper and ink you ever read. "The Bible Den tist" (one of 11 cartoons) is worth the price of the book. We have 5 other books—"Jocko-Homo Heaven-Bound," "Puddle to Paradise," "Toadstool among the Tombs," "Alibi, Lullaby, By-by," and "Bastus Agustus." The last a dialog in Negro dialect. Each book 20c postpaid. If order amounts to $1.00, we give "When Snakes Began to Nurse Their Young" (8 pages) and "Cous in’s Day at the Zoo" (8 pages). HOMO PUB. CO., ROGERS, OHIO
