Reflections from the Editor
Welcome to the Wine & Charcuterie issue of Global Chic Lifestyle. A somewhat unlikely pairing I am not quite sure how I arrived at this theme. Possibly the warm feeling one gets from drinking wine somehow reminded me of the warmth one feels when seeing a beautiful field of bright yellow sunflowers. Regardless of how this came about I am hoping you will enjoy this issue. Visiting wineries has become a bit of a passion for me, probably more for the ambience than for the wine itself! Although I have been to many tastings at some of the most world-renowned wineries, I am by no means well versed in the world of wine. I am often happy with a house Merlot (especially in Italy) but I have learned which wines are my favorites. Although many of the wineries in the US are relatively new it is the art of wine making that gives most wineries such an old world feeling. You feel an instant kinship when dropping into a winery for a tasting. They produce wine and you are there to enjoy it. Having just returned from a short visit to Door County in Wisconsin I have to admit the wineries added so much to our trip. I picked up my grandson (college freshman) and we had a few days to explore. It was unseasonably warm for the last weekend in October and that made it so special. The leaves were still beautiful, the sun was shining, and the wineries offered a place to sit, taste wine, listen to some live music and simply enjoy the day. Cheese, fruit and bread and we had a picnic. So much more fun than sitting for hours in a restaurant we were able to enjoy the last bit of late autumn. While we look toward the busy Holiday Season I hope you will pick up a small bouquet of sunflowers, a bottle of your favorite wine and spend an hour or so perusing the magazine. Cheers! Terry
