Charity golf tourney scores big for students
Students are the real winners of the Eighth Annual Good Samaritan Trust Fund Golf Tournament.The annual charitable sports event raised more than $29,500. The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) began the tour- nament eight years ago at the same time as it created the Good Samaritan Trust Fund (GSTF).The Fund provides financial support to students and their families in the CDS- BEO operations area.The GSTF helps out in situations where local food banks, snow suit funds, breakfast clubs, or other community service and aid organizations cannot. CDSBEO Director of Education William J. Gartland credited the success of this year’s tournament to the support of both its sponsors and the team of volunteers working behind-the-scenes, leading up to and during the event. «This tournament is our primary fun- draiser for this important cause,» stated Gartland. «It is essential for us to be able to provide this unique support system for our students and their families, and we thank everyone for being here today.» Major sponsors for this year’s tournament include Emond Harnden LLP, Scotiabank; Adams Sherwood Swabey & Follon; Edward J.
