Tektronix brings 3rd, 4th generation standard compliance testing

Core-centring splicer, from Fitel

The FITEL S179 is a new core-centering, three-axis splicer from FITEL Furukawa for metro,LAN, FTTx and all bend-insensitive fibres. Splicing a fibre takes only six seconds in semi-automatic operation and applying a protection sleeve takes nine seconds. A charged battery can operate for up to 200 splicing cycles.

The 4.3 inch touchscreen and large opening of the splicing chamber make handling much easier and four bright LEDs provide interior lighting, even under poor lighting conditions. The housing is shockproof, waterproof and dustproof.

The FITEL S179 provides an NFC interface to lock and unlock this device, an intuitive touchscreen for quick operation and can be controlled via a smartphone. Two integrated USB interfaces allow further communication possibilities. The product is available exclusively from

Laser Components in Germany and Austria.

Tektronix brings its broad portfolio of applications to new DPO70000SX family of ultra-high performance oscilloscopes. Spanning 50 solutions for PHY layer compliance testing, characterisation and debugging in enterprise, data communications, mobile and display segments. Featuring patented Asynchronous Time Interleaving (ATI) signal acquisition technology, DPO70000SX oers industry-best signal fidelity and performance coupled with scalable architecture, oering “room to grow” as signal speeds increase. Tektronix is enabling support for 4th generation standards including USB3.1, Thunderbolt over USB Type-C, PCIe Gen4 and DDR4 on the DPO70000SX Series.

The Optical Society celebrates 100th anniversary with centennial stand

High-density multiport optical EMI shielding adapters, from Molex The Optical Society (OSA) will celebrate its centennial at ECOC this year, marking a century of sparking inspiration and smart innovation, driven by 270,000 scientists, students, engineers and business leaders around the world. ECOC visitors have been invited to visit the stand to experience 100 iconic images from the history of optics, photonics and The Optical Society. STAND 104

EMI shielding adapters address mechanical design requirements limiting EMI and radio frequency interference (RFI) emissions from front panels or enclosures. High-Density Multiport Optical EMI Shielding Adapters (up to 15 ports) from Molex are constructed of either all die-cast housings or as a half die-cast, half polymer housing. Housings have an EMI gasket that seals the

adapters to the panel. The adapters increase shielding eectiveness while enhancing front panel aesthetics compared to traditional plastic adapters. The Molex LC and MPO panel mount EMI adapter solutions eliminate the need for EMI containment structures, resulting in reduced engineering time, increased board space and reduced manufacturing costs.
