Lumentumoptical whiteboxes enable software- defined transport networks

Telegärtner launches indoor/ outdoor connectionmodule

The new TOC-FEM connects new, existing and even damaged fibre optic cables reliably and safely. Users can expect a useful fibre optic connection module for building networks, industrial cabling or data distribution for indoor and outdoor use. Its applications range from building cabling with FTTH networks to mobile or industrial applications and security technology. The new TOC-FEM (Fibre Extension

Module) connects preassembled fibre optic cables indoors or outdoors, even under harsh conditions. The robust metal housing of anodized aluminium safely and reliably protects the connection from environmental influences and mechanical strain. An elastic sealing insert makes it an ideal solution for both new installations as well as upgrades on location.

The Lumentum SDN optical whitebox platform supports open interfaces to ease the integration into SDN controller/ orchestrator layers, enabling system integrators and network operators to deploy and turn-up services. Product oering includes terminal amplifier, line amplifier, ROADM and Mux/Demux. SDN and programmable networks oer the promise of accelerating service turn- up and pace of innovation, with benefits throughout the value chain,” said Doug Alteen, vice president, product line management, Telecom. “Optical whiteboxes are Lumentum’s contribution to the ecosystem in its collective pursuit of achieving this objective.

MTP-16multi- fibre optical connector for 400G

Designed to support next generation parallel transmission protocols, US Conec’s MTP-16 connector oers the highest density, physical contact, multi-fibre connector format on the market today. The MTP-16 connector is ideal for high density structured cabling applications that support aggregation of multiple parallel or duplex links requiring low insertion loss. In addition, MTP-16 connectors couple directly into emerging 16x25G active devices.

Utilising the same external footprint as the existing traditional 12 fibre MT ferrule, the MTP-16 comprises of an MT Elite ferrule with one or two rows of 16 fibres and leverages all the proven MT Elite ferrule technology in a higher density format. A unique oset keying feature is designed into the MTP-16 connector to ensure proper mating without inadvertently connecting 16

fibre hardware with standard MPO compliant hardware. The new keying hardware specifications were recently published in TIA 604-18 (FOCIS 18). MTP-16 bulkhead adapters are also available in full or reduced flange mounting and opposed or aligned key orientation.

Viavi’s G-PON data analysis oers improved installation testing and activation capabilities

Viavi’s new OLP-88 TruePON analyser not only performs real-time measurements of downstream and upstream power levels, it also enables in-service insertion loss testing. By using innovative G-PON data analysis it is possible to identify an optical network terminal (ONT) by serial number and to detect the activation status that reports proper operation

of an ONT or malfunction coming from a rogue or alien device that can cause service degradation. OLP-88 TruePON analyser is the ideal tool for field technicians and for support teams for installation, service activation and trouble shooting.
