ROOTS OF FAITH: THE FOUNDING AND EVOLUTION OF FOUNTAIN OF LIFE COVENANT CHURCH
T he origins of Fountain of Life Church in Madison, WI, date back to 1977 when it was es- tablished as Union Tabernacle Church of God in Christ II by Bishop R.L. Ford from Chicago, IL, under the guidance of Mother Verline Fleming. Initially meeting in Mother Fleming’s living room, the church flourished over six years, driven by the passion of seven teenagers who orga- nized additional prayer services during the week.

The 1990s marked a signifi- cant transformation for Union Tabernacle (UT II) as it experi- enced growth in both numbers and diversity, becoming more reflective of Madison’s multicul- tural landscape. The establish- ment of the Nehemiah Commu- nity Development Corporation in 1992 underscored the church’s com- mitment to community engagement. In 1997, UT II rebranded as Fountain of Life Family Worship Center, symbolizing a new era in its spiritual journey. Through the dedication of around twenty stead- fast leaders and supported by a committed com- munity, the church expanded its ministries and

Amidst ongoing evolution, the church remains de- voted to authentic worship, trans- formative divine encounters, and a mission of service that extends far be- yond its physical boundaries, touching the hearts and lives of all who encounter its mes- sage of hope and love.

EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES: THE IMPACTFUL JOURNEY OF REV. DR. ALEXANDER GEE
R ev. Dr. Alexander Gee, a prominent figure at Fountain of Life Church, extends his influ- ence beyond the role of Lead Pastor as the pres- ident and founder of the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development and Justified Anger initiative. Dr. Gee’s impact spans various roles, including husband, father, writer, adjunct faculty worker, community activist, life coach, international lecturer, and relief worker, show- casing his versatility. Under his leadership, five successful initiatives have been established, supported by a dedicated team of nearly 40 in- dividuals. Over almost three decades, Dr. Gee has emerged as a significant figure in leadership develop- ment and fostering cross-cultural relationships on national and international levels. Through Nehemiah’s programs, he empowers youth, cul- tivates leadership skills, promotes family and community wellness, drives economic develop- ment, and provides reentry services for those reintegrating post-incarceration. Nehemiah’s commitment to addressing health disparities among African Americans in Wisconsin led to a million-dollar grant from the UW-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health. A standout initiative, the Justified Anger-spon- sored history class “Black History For a New Day,” has educated over 2,700 participants through its sixth year, both in-person and virtually. Dr. Gee’s global influence is evident through teaching engagements in locations like India, South Africa, Cambodia, South Korea,
and Canada, reflecting his dedication to fos- tering cross-cultural understanding. Recognized for his exceptional community contributions, Dr. Gee has received pres- tigious honors, including the City of Mad- ison’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Hu- manitarian Award in 1994. He delivered an inspirational message at the White House for President H.W. Bush’s staff, was lauded by the Madison Community Foundation in 1995 for “Outstanding Contributions to the Community,” and recognized by the Wis- consin State Journal as one of the “Ten Who Made a Difference.” Dr. Gee’s academic journey culminated in the attainment of his doctorate from es- teemed institutions like the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Fuller Seminary, and Bakke Graduate University. As a published author with two books and host of the award-winning podcast “Black Like Me,” he sheds light on pressing issues affecting com- munities of color. Rev. Dr. Alexander Gee epitomizes positive change and social impact through his un- wavering dedication, visionary leadership, and commitment to community empower- ment. His transformative initiatives resonate within Fountain of Life Covenant Church and beyond, shaping a more inclusive, em- powered, and compassionate world. | 7

FAITH AND SERVICE: THE ESSENCE OF FOUNTAIN OF LIFE COVENANT CHURCH
A t Fountain of Life Covenant Church, our mission and vision encapsulate the essence of our faith, guiding our actions, and uniting us in a shared purpose that extends beyond the walls of our sanctuary.
We come together as a vibrant and multicul- tural family of believers, united by our faith in Christ and our commitment to sharing life in fellowship and love. In our diverse tapes-
try, we find unity, strength, and richness that reflect the beauty of God's creation. As we gather to worship, we are transformed by the pow- er of Christ's love and grace. His transformative work in our lives compels us to step out of our comfort zones and engage with the needs of our community and the world at large. Through acts of service, compassion, and kindness, we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus, bringing hope, healing, and restoration to those around us.
Vision: Enter to Worship, Exit to Serve! This simple yet profound statement encapsulates our vision at Fountain of Life Covenant Church. We be- lieve that true worship is not confined to the sacred moments within our church walls but extends into every facet of our lives. As we en- ter to worship, we are called to encounter the presence of God, to offer our hearts and voices in adoration and praise. However, our wor- ship does not end there—it
propels us to go out and serve the world around us, carrying the light of Christ into our communities and beyond. Worship is not just a moment; it's a lifestyle that drives us to make a difference wher- ever we go. Mission: A Multicultural Family of Believers Our mission at Fountain of Life Covenant Church is deeply rooted in community, diversity, and service.
Our mission is not defined by mere words or intentions but by tangible actions that demonstrate the radical love of Christ. We are called to be beacons of light in a world shrouded in darkness, to be agents of change and reconciliation, and to embody the values of compassion, justice, and humility that de- fine our faith. | 9

I n the heart of Fountain of Life Covenant Church beats a foundational belief in the Triune God— Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—whose divine unity shapes our worship and service. Jesus Christ, born of the Virgin Mary and crucified for our salvation, now reigns, interceding for us and empowering believers through His Spirit to share the Gospel globally. The Holy Spirit’s presence sanctifies and empowers us, leading to lives of holiness, power, and ser- vice. Guided by the Holy Bible, our inspired light, we navigate God’s will and purpose. As stewards of creation, we honor God and live free from sin, basking in His grace. Salvation through Christ offers redemption and forgiveness to all who accept Him, marking a new life sealed by the Holy Spirit and destined for eternity. Miraculous healing and abundant blessings serve as testaments to God’s love, inspiring unwavering faith. Gifts of the Holy Spirit, particularly love, unify believers in service to the Church and beyond. Bap- tism symbolizes faith in Christ’s sacrifice, while the Lord’s Supper unites Christians in gratitude for His love. EMBRACING THE FAITH: THE BELIEFS OF FOUNTAIN OF LIFE COVENANT CHURCH
The Christian Church, empowered by the Holy Spirit, stands united in faith, fellowship, and Gospel service. Gov- erned by Christ’s teachings, we reflect His love, fostering a diverse yet harmo- nious community transcending barriers. At Fountain of Life Covenant Church, these beliefs fuel worship, guide actions, and inspire reflections of God’s love and grace in every aspect of life. Through unity, reconciliation, and service, we em- body the essence of our Triune God with love, peace, and devotion.
