Begin your adventure in Sioux Falls to explore the stunning Falls Park. Head north to Fargo to explore local history. Take in the beautiful Great Plains as you journey across the state to the city of Medora, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and the Buffalo Stampede at Custer State Park. Journey into the Black Hills to see two of the best-known of American landmarks at Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial. DAY 1: SIOUX FALLS, SD Depart Springfield for Kansas City where we will collect fellow Sunrise travelers. Then continue on to Sioux Falls, SD, for an afternoon arrival. Spend the morning exploring the Sioux Falls’ namesake feature, the beautiful Falls Park along the Big Sioux River. See remnants of the historic grist mill and have lunch in the park at the Overlook Cafe housed in the former Light & Power Co. hydroelectric plant. Continue to Fargo for an evening on your own and overnight at Kelly Inn and Suites. B, L DAY 3: HJEMKOMST/BISMARCK, ND Start the morning with a visit to the Hjemkomst Center in Morehead, Minnesota, and learn about the area’s Viking and Scandinavian heritage. Depart for the State Capital City of Bismarck for a stroll through the galleries at the North Dakota Heritage Center. Make way to Medora and enjoy the one-of-a-kind Pitchfork Steak Fondue dinner. Check-in to the Historic Rough Riders Hotel for a comfortable two-night stay. B, D DAY 4: MEDORA, ND
