HALEY RENEE BARNHOUSE & ALLEN CHAD SMYTH SUTTON | 9.14.19
chad, a native of sutton, andhaley, originally from cowen , met by chance as strangers parked near each other in a department store parking lot. They exchanged pleasantries, struck up conversation, and very quickly felt like they’d known each other forever. Three months later, on an emotional Christmas Day that saw Haley’s young daughter spending the holiday with her dad, Chad proposed and promised to help Haley get through all the hard days for the rest of their lives. The couple chose to celebrate their wedding at the Smyth Farm in Sutton. Escorted by her brother and stepfather, the bride wore an ivory-colored dress with beaded cap sleeves and an open back. She wore a cathedral-length lace veil and cowgirl boots and carried a bouquet of fresh wildflowers. Her husband-to-be donned dark wash blue jeans, leather cowboy boots, and a cowboy hat for the occasion. They exchanged traditional vows under a homemade arch just before Chad presented his new stepdaughter with a “forever necklace” as a token of his unconditional love and affection. The couple joined family and friends for a reception held under an enormous white tent decorated with antique items, including a collection of tractors that had worked the land for decades. Guests dined on a barbecue feast, played games, and danced the evening away. Chad and Haley carved a two-tiered naked carrot cake with cream cheese icing, and guests were treated to chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing. The couple departed the reception underneath the warm glow of a sparkler send-off and set out on their honeymoon to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Following the honeymoon, the couple returned home to begin their married life together in Sutton, where Chad helps to run his family’s railroad car repair business and Haley, also a small business owner, operates Dapper Dog Pet Salon.
