THE REGISTRY ER

KATELYN VICTORIA COOK & CHARLES MARK TURK HETEY LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLORIDA | 11.21.19

katelyn and turk met through bumble, an online dating app, in July of 2017. Their first date was at Starbucks in Barboursville and, in 2018, Turk proposed in front of the Eiffel Tower during a trip to Paris. Katelyn was ecstatic that he proposed in the city she fell in love with when she studied abroad in France in 2011. A lifelong Disney fan, Katelyn thought it would be wonderful to get married at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion. Both Katelyn and Turk wanted an intimate wedding with close family members and friends. The bride was escorted by her father to “Bridal March” by Jonathan Cain. She wore an Oleg Cassini A-line dress with lace appliques, topper, and a long train. She carried a bouquet of light pink roses and baby’s breath. At the ceremony, Katelyn and Turk read their own vows and participated in a unity glass ceremony. They joined guests for a reception that included a plated dinner, music, and a traditional Greek dance in honor of the groom’s Greek heritage. Some of their favorite elements of the wedding were the bride’s father’s homage to the groom’s late father, the bride’s brother’s speech, and riding together in Cinderella’s Coach. It was a magical day that neither Katelyn nor Turk will soon forget. After the wedding, the newlyweds went on a cruise in Hawaii for their honeymoon. They live together in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, where Turk works as an airline pilot and Katelyn works as a teacher.
