ashley, an arnoldsburg native, met jason, originally from rainelle, in 2016 when they both swiped right. The pair texted back and forth for almost two years, forming a friendship. After much time, they finally met face to face in Summersville, where they enjoyed each other’s company and shared endless laughter. After months of friendship, romance grew, and they began a relationship filled with love, adventure, and memories. Jason proposed at Babcock State Park, the site of their first official date months prior. After the excitement of being proposed to at a place she loved, Ashley began planning with her mother for the day she had dreamed about since she was a little girl—a day postponed twice because of COVID-19. They were finally married in The Grand Hall at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke in a traditional ceremony. The bride was escorted by her father and wore an ivory-colored mermaid gown with crystal-embellished net overlay and crystal and seed pearl detailing. She carried a waterfall bouquet of stargazer lilies, white, pink, and purple roses, calla lilies, orchids, and greenery. The couple exchanged traditional vows and shared a sand ceremony before joining guests for dinner and dancing in the Stonewall Ballroom. After the DJ introduced them for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Rudd, they shared their first dance to “Making Memories of Us” by Keith Urban. Guests dined on beef tenderloin, zydeco chicken, and Scottish rainbow trout. They were also treated to a three-tiered white wedding cake with white chocolate raspberry filling and white buttercream icing. During the reception, there were long-awaited speeches and dances shared with loved ones, and the night ended with “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Following the exciting wedding weekend at Stonewall Resort, the couple returned home to Arnoldsburg, where Ashley works as a speech language pathologist and Jason works as a civil engineer.
