CYNTHIA BROOKE MICHAEL & MICHAEL THOMAS WALKER RIVESVILLE | 11.30.19

rivesville-native brooke and bridgeport-native michael’s favorite love story began when they met at Short Story Brewing in April 2018. With help from mutual friend and matchmaker Crystal, Brooke and Michael began dating two weeks later. A year and a half after that, Michael proposed to Brooke at Short Story Brewing over two glasses of their favorite brew, “Two For The Show.” After a short engagement, the couple pulled off an Olympic feat: with help from their families, the couple planned a wedding for 212 guests in 12 weeks. They were married over Thanksgiving weekend at Rivesville United Methodist Church, where the bride’s parents had been married. Brooke, wearing a strapless, sweetheart, drop waist, silk A-line gown, was escorted by her father as “I’ve Just Seen a Face” by The Beatles played—the same song that played when Michael proposed. The groom wore a navy blue tailored suit and “Yellow Submarine” socks. The couple exchanged traditional vows and lit a unity candle as a symbol of their commitment to one another. The reception took place at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place, where the newlyweds entertained guests. In addition to a cookie table featuring more than 100 types of cookies, guests enjoyed a two-tiered chocolate cake with buttercream icing made by the bride’s sister-in-law and sister-in-law’s mother. In true Walker style, the guests’ parting gifts were Belgian beer taster glasses. After the wedding, the couple returned to Newark, Delaware, where Brooke is the director of the Wesley Foundation Campus Ministry at the University of Delaware and a SNAP-Ed educator for University of Delaware Cooperative Extension and Michael is an assistant swim coach at the University of Delaware.
