shawnee and mark met on valentine’s day, 2014, at Rocktop Bar &Grill in Morgantown . Three and a half years later, Mark proposed during a romantic weekend getaway to Duluth, Minnesota. The couple was walking the rocky shoreline of Lake Superior in search of translucent agates when Mark told Shawnee he “found a big one.” He dropped to one knee and pulled a ring box out of his jacket pocket. The couple hosted a September wedding on the ceremony lawn at Snowshoe Mountain resort, where guests were welcomed with personalized goodies: pepperoni rolls and buckeyes to represent the couple’s home states and Caribou Coffee to represent their new home in Minnesota. The bride, wearing an ivory-colored ball gown with silver detailing resembling flowers and foliage, was escorted down the aisle by her father to an a cappella version of “My Home Among the Hills” recorded for the occasion by the West Virginia University Choir. The bride carried a bouquet of caramel-colored, burgundy, terracotta, and cream-colored flowers that complemented the bridesmaids’ rust-colored dresses and the groomsmens’ rust-colored bow ties. The groom wore a classic black shawl collar tuxedo and a Movado watch given to him by the bride for his graduation fromWest Virginia University College of Law. The couple exchanged traditional and personalized vows and took part in a unity handfasting. The newlywed’s first dance was to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight,” which ended in a spectacular confetti-cannon explosion. Dancing the night away with wedding guests was the couple’s favorite part of the reception. The couple honeymooned in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tennessee, before returning home to Eagan, Minnesota, where Shawnee is an associate recruiter at Cassia and Mark is an attorney client manager at Thomson Reuters.
