in 2013, karli went to holden beach, north carolina, with her best friend, Haley. Along for the ride was Haley’s cousin, Tommy. It was after the beach trip ended that their relationship began. Karli and Tommy dated for seven years, and the time was finally right when they returned to Holden Beach where it all began. They chose a seaside venue for their special day, too. Guests arrived in a vintage pink Volkswagen bus named “Lucy,” and the groom, wearing a three-piece navy-colored suit with a coral tie, arrived in a white Rolls Royce. The bride wore a custom white lace and beaded gown and bridal flip flops embellished with pearls and starfish and carried her grandmother’s gold starfish in her bouquet. Karli’s father escorted her down the beach boardwalk to Mendelssohn’s wedding march performed by a string quartet. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged traditional vows, followed by the firing of a flower cannon. The reception was equally as spectacular. It began with a cocktail hour, where guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and the bride and groom’s signature drink, a Peach Bellini, followed by their first dance to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s “Nobody but You.” The couple served a southern-style buffet of barbeque, catfish, prime rib, collard greens, a mac and cheese and pasta bar, and had a three-tiered wedding cake with a waterfall of fresh flowers. After a long night of dining and dancing, guests left with midnight snacks, including white and gold M&Ms with the couple’s hashtag “UntilWeParrish” and tins of peppermints that said “Mint to Be.” The couple honeymooned in Destin, Florida before returning to Karli’s hometown of Charleston, where she is an MBA student at the University of Charleston. Tommy, an Elkview native, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Bellevue College in Omaha, Nebraska.
