just before new year’s eve, 2018, St. Albans–native April met Alex, from Yuba City, California, through the worship team at Bible Center Church in Charleston. Their meeting meant the new year ahead would have lots to celebrate, from a surprise September proposal to a late November wedding. The couple chose to marry in the church where they met. Before the ceremony, they shared an emotional first look, where they saw the sentimental touches of one another’s formalwear. Alex’s black Calvin Klein suit had monogrammed cuff sleeves, and April wore Alex’s grandmother’s hand-embroidered handkerchief tucked into the garter beneath her Allure gown for something borrowed and something blue. April was escorted down the aisle by her mother, Sheri, and her father, Paul; she carried a bouquet of white roses and silver dollar eucalyptus arranged by her mother. The couple was wed by Bible Center Church’s Pastor of Worship Caleb Korth. At the reception, guests mingled in front of the cozy fireplace at the Bible Center Church. A delicate mix of love songs played in the background, and guests enjoyed food catered by Chick-fil-A and Chipotle. The couple’s three-tiered vanilla wedding cake, decorated with white roses and eucalyptus, was designed by a close family friend. Following the reception, the couple spent their honeymoon lakeside at Lanier Islands in Buford, Georgia, then returned home to Hurricane, where April works as a dental hygienist and Alex is a regional broadcasting engineer.
