Service offering
Peer reviews Jensen Hughes conducts a detailed, independent assessment of the fire engineering performance solutions for the building to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with best practices. We review the fire safety strategy, evaluate the suitability of codes and models used, verify assumptions and input data, and assess the validity of modelling results and conclusions. Consultants also provide expert advice, participate in stakeholder discussions if needed, and review revised reports to confirm that feedback has been adequately addressed. Expert witness When disputes occur, we can provide expert advice and evidence in Court proceedings. We have experience preparing litigation compliant reports on buildings and the approval process across multiple jurisdictions, including NCAT (NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal), the Supreme Court, and the Land and Environment Court. We are well versed in expert conclaves, joint inspections, and mediation processes.
As part of a multidisiplinary consulting and engineering company, we leverage our deep technical expertise and broad service offerings to deliver optimised fire safety solutions for our clients.
Fire safety strategies / management plans To minimise fire risks, our experienced fire safety engineers create customised fire strategies for every phase of your building’s lifecycle, from the design stage to the construction stage. This comprehensive approach ensures that the fire safety strategy is integrated into the design from the start, aligning with the project’s objectives and the final building requirements. If the building is already operational, we can also assess the current fire safety measures and align the fire strategy with existing policies and requirements. Performance solutions We use a performance based approach to customise fire safety measures for a design, helping clients achieve their objectives while maintaining the level of fire safety expected by the building code and the community. Our performance based solutions are rigorously benchmarked against the objectives and intent of the NCC, ensuring that we can clearly demonstrate compliance with the relevant performance requirements. Fire, smoke + evacuation modelling Fire and smoke modelling predicts the spread of smoke, heat, and flames within the building to assess the impacts on occupant evacuation and to optimise the mechanical smoke hazard management systems and architectural design. Our services include evacuation modelling to assess occupant movement in fire emergencies to ensure occupants can evacuate the building safely. We provide a comprehensive approach to enhance building safety and ensure regulatory compliance.
Infrastructure and tunnels With extensive experience in fire safety for
underground transit systems, including train stations and tunnels, we adopt a performance based approach. This includes emergency evacuations, smoke control, fire compartmentation, and the fire rating of loadbearing elements, grounded in essential fire safety principles. Our team collaborates closely with you to develop practical and cost effective solutions that ensure compliance with safety standards. Structural fire engineering Structural fire engineering is a method used to predict how fire might affect different parts of a building. It looks at the likely fire conditions and assesses how they would impact the building’s structure. We offer comprehensive services, from initial guidance to detailed complex analyses. Our collaborative approach means we work closely with all stakeholders to integrate fire safety seamlessly into your innovative building designs.
