A CURATED SELECTION OF GREAT CARDS

42. 1895 N300 Mayo’s Cut Plug Kid Nichols (HOF) - SGC VG 3

44. 1908 E102 Napoleon Lajoie (HOF) - SGC EX 5

Kid Nichols was one of the premier pitchers of the late 1800’s and did a pretty bang up job in the early years of the 20th Century as well. The Kid racked up 362 career wins, still good for 7th all-time and following his retirement, was a mentor to a young Casey Stengel. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1949, he remains one of the brightest stars in the constellation of 19th Century big league ball. This SGC 3 has some nicks and scars on the obverse, which is to be

Here’s a real blazer of a card, with orange so bright it looks like the sky is burning behind Hall Of Famer Nap Lajoie! The E102 “Set of 25” is actually comprised of 29 subjects, and originates from 1909. No matter, the third Lajoie specimen holdered as an SGC 6 is a worthy subject and this card has nice, big borders top and bottom, with centering pushed a little bit to the left. The image is supernova bright and overall appearance is spectacular, with a happily intact reverse. MINIMUM BID: $500

expected for a card that’s got almost 13 decades of history behind it. The image is fairly clean and bright. The reverse has held up nicely as well and is almost Spinal Tap-ish in nature (none more black).

MINIMUM BID: $750

W600 Sporting Life Cabinets depicting Hall of Fame players have been a challenging quarry for collectors of several generations. Offered as a premium by a turn of the century sports magazine and featuring sepia photos of over 650 subjects, these were made available during the first decade of the 20th Century. The well-composed Carl Horner portraits and tasteful frame are an alluring combination, and if that wasn’t enough, this is the only example of Evers in both the SGC and PSA pop reports and it’s received a 3.5 grade from the latter. Some minor corner rounding to to the thick frame is seen, while the well-preserved portrait of Evers sits protected, snug and secure in the middle. The reverse is wonderfully clean on a card that frankly looks like it should exceed its assigned grade. 43. Tough 1902-11 W600 Sporting Life Cabinets Johnny Evers (HOF) - PSA VG+ 3.5 (Only Graded Example!) MINIMUM BID: $500
