Not exactly Ohtani-like, but the best was yet to come for the 21-year-old hurler. It was his colossal performance in Game 2 - his World Series pitching debut - that would be the biggest contribution to his legend, as he threw every pitch in a 14-inning marathon, scattering just six hits and giving up one run - a first inning home run to Hi Myers. From the 8th inning on, Ruth did not surrender a hit, and in the bottom of the 14th, pinch hitter Del Gainer singled home the winning run. Though the stub presented here resembles a single-game ticket, it is actually a three-game pass that entitled the bearer to access to Braves Field (where the Red Sox were playing) for the Series. The grandstand passes were offered for $3 per game ($9 total), with a maximum of two passes per person. Valid for games 1, 2, and 5, the bearer of this pass could’ve seen Ruth’s World Series debut, the Red Sox’ Game 1 victory behind Ernie Shore, and the clinching Game 5, Shore’s second win of the Series. The stub has been graded FR 1.5 by PSA, a fresh submission, graded as such due to wrinkling and an irregular tear. Some light staining is also apparent, with a small spot of paper loss on the reverse from scrapbook mounting. An outstanding, historically important ticket stub that was likely present at Babe Ruth’s World Series pitching debut.
