OFFSHORE FLARE TIP REPLACEMENT
Zenith has pioneered the design of a purpose-built lifting frame to simplify the process of replacing flare tips offshore. This innovative solution eliminates the need for expensive barge cranes and helicopters by positioning the lifting frame directly at the flare level. It has been designed to take the weight of the existing flare tip as it is lowered to the deck or supply vessel, as well as lifting the new replacement flare tip into position.
Zenith’s consultants design a variety of lifting frames in addition to the lifting frame featured, dependent on size, weight and flare tower structure configuration.

Location Equatorial Guinea
Zenith Structural Access Solutions Limited was awarded a contract by AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited to design and install a temporary lifting frame. This frame facilitated the replacement of a 907kgs flare tip located on a FPSO offshore in Nigeria. We completed the design, supply, and installation of the temporary lifting frame in-house. Our safe method results in significant cost savings when compared with expensive helicopters and barge cranes.
Shell appointed Zenith to design and install a temporary lifting davit, to facilitate the replacement of a 710 kg flare tip on Shell’s FPSO Curlew located in the North Sea.
The outage work scope included the removal and replacement of the existing flare tip, the flare tip is located on an elevated boom structure. Zenith designed and fabricated a bespoke temporary lifting frame for installation to the existing upper flare derrick to allow the removal of the existing flare tip and the installation of the replacement flare tip (2267 kg).
