BC E-Transport
Challenge Electric bicycles have become a popular mode of transportation, being ridden on roads and trails across Canada, including in British Columbia. With this growth comes a critical challenge: managing thousands of e-bikes and lithium-ion batteries at end of life. In March 2022, BC expanded its Recycling Regulation that requires producers of e-transport products to implement a compliant end-of-life recycling program for the entire e-bike , not just the batteries.
Producers and brands were faced with new EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) obligations requiring a robust, accessible system for riders to easily recycle their used e-bikes and batteries.
Bicycle industry leaders partnered with Call2Recycle to deliver a turnkey, efficient recycling solution that ensures safety, compliance, and environmental responsibility.
