Cyberinfrastructure Workshop: Exploring and Analyzing Large Administrative Data Wed. 11:00am – 1:00pm EDT This session is full. Join the waitlist in Pathable. Although local public agencies collect mandatory data they are not standardized and used in limited ways for decision-making. This workshop will focus on how to standardize and analyze the administrative data using cyberinfrastructure and data science tools. We will exemplify with 311 calls, which are local non-emergency service requests. We especially invite senior Ph.D. students and junior faculty in general, and those from minority-serving programs in particular. We will cap the workshop to fifteen attendees. Python or R skills are desirable, but not a must. The workshop is facilitated through NSF Grant # 1924154. NOTE: The NASPAA conference registration costs can be reimbursed for participants through the NSF grant (up to the early bird rate of $99.00). Based around an interactive, flipped classroom, the 2020 Institute will use a combination of video modules and experiential and skills-based learning to touch on each of the 7 NASPAA Accreditation Standards, including maintaining your mission and sustainable assessment, as well as program best practices. The philosophy of the training is focused around the elements of managing a program effectively: mission-driven, outcomes-oriented, evidence-based. Anyone interested can also train to become a NASPAA Site Visitor! COPRA encourages individuals from recently accredited programs not in immediate upcoming cohorts to train as site visitors. 10 – 10:50am: Holistic Strategic Management 11 – 11:50am: Program Evaluation Noon – 12:50pm: Student Learning Assessment 1 – 2pm: Lunch (on your own) 2 – 2:30pm: Questions!
