Lessons Learned for Addressing Mental Health and Wellness Issues in Public Affairs Programs Thurs. 2:45 – 3:05pm EDT Anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and self- harm are on the rise among students (and faculty and staff) across the higher education landscape, including public affairs schools. Preliminary reports suggest that the dramatic disruption to higher education practices caused by the COVID- 19 pandemic has exacerbated these trends. Addressing mental health and wellness issues inside and outside the classroom has become an important part of academic life in public affairs programs. In this panel, faculty and academic leaders from public affairs programs across the country share resources, formal and informal strategies, and lessons learned in addressing mental health and wellness issues among students.
