We Have New Leadership Nationally known for his ability to get things done, Kirk Watson began as Founding Dean of the Hobby School of Public Affairs in May 2020. Dean Watson previously served in the Texas Senate for over 13 years, and in his last session in 2019, was chosen by his colleagues as president pro tempore. Dean Watson also served as mayor of Austin, led a state agency, and practiced as an attorney with an international law firm.

We focus on understanding the global impact of science, technology and innovation on society, and nurture transdisciplinary leaders who can analyze and make ethically- informed decisions in the public interest.
