The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a series of exhibitions and programs highlighting not just the Museum’s legacy, but also the relationship be- tween the era in which it was founded and our current cultural landscape. Standing in the Shadows of Love: The Aldrich Collection 1964–1974 is a two-part exhibition that examines Larry Aldrich’s legacy through the works of artists he championed early in their careers, a practice that continues to be honored in the mission of the Museum. CARRIAGE BARN ARTS CENTER The Carriage Barn Arts Center offers art- ists the opportunity to exhibit their work in an exceptional gallery space in a unique nineteenth-century stone barn. Exhibitions, lectures, educational workshops, concerts and other events are held in this adaptively reused historical building on the grounds of a former estate, now Waveny Park. 258 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT. 203/438-4519; www.aldrichart.org Westport Country Playhouse stages “Inti- mate Apparel” by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, an intricate tapestry of the joys, sorrows, tragedy, and triumph of a gifted but lonely African-American seamstress in early 20 th century Manhattan who’s negotiating the choice between a love that is accepted and one that is true.
