Angels With Broken Wings New Bethel program looks to improve police-community relations

Recent officer-involved shootings have sparked increased animosity toward police across the country. Those tensions crescendoed in July when a man shot and killed five officers in Dallas. The turmoil has left political, police, and community leaders struggling to resolve decades-old conflicts and renew a sense of trust between officers and the community. Pastor Felicia Osborne, executive director and CEO of Bethel Counseling Services, wants to be part of the solution. “I was sitting in my living room at home and I said, ‘What can I do? What can my program do to improve relations with the police?’” Pastor Osborne says. Her answer: a new program that’s the only one of its kind in the state, designed to open communication and build relationships between the police and the community.
