The organization invites neighborhoods, police departments, citizen groups, and individuals to participate in its ini- tiatives, whether it's through organizing local activities, contributing to public education efforts, or simply spreading the word about the importance of suicide prevention. Safe Communities of Madison and Dane County's multifaceted approach to suicide prevention demonstrates that when a community comes together, it has the power to make a significant impact. Through education, treatment, and support, and with the engagement of every community member, lives can be saved, and the shadow of suicide can be lifted from our society.
