Falls Prevention: CREATING SAFER ENVIRONMENTS FOR VULNERABLE POPULATIONS

Recognizing the gravity of this issue, Safe Communities of Madison and Dane County has dedicated efforts to prevent falls and create safer environments for these at-risk groups. Safe Communities understands that fall prevention requires a multifaceted approach. One of the key strategies is the modification of living spaces to minimize risks. This includes the installation of grab bars in bathrooms, improved lighting in hallways and staircases, and the removal of tripping hazards such as loose rugs and electrical cords. By making these simple changes, the risk of falls can be substantially reduced. Education plays a crucial role in falls prevention.
