This class is designed to go beyond traditional weightlifting, focusing on movements that mimic real- life activities, helping you build strength, stability, and flexibility for everyday tasks. Whether you’re an athlete looking to improve performance or someone seeking functional fitness for daily living, this class is tailored to meet your needs. Parents/Guardians would need to provide transportation for participants not in Fall half-day day program. Grab your shoes and bowling ball and come bowl! Recreation, socialization, and fun in a supervised environment for intellectually challenged individuals. Parents/Guardians/Caregivers must provide transportation to and from the bowling center. If your child is registered for the Monday/Wednesday day program, he/she is registered for bowling and will be transported by Dothan Leisure Services to the bowling center. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION PROGRAM FALL CARNIVAL A fall carnival for intellectually and physically challenged children, and adults as well as their immediate family members. Participants will enjoy carnival games, cakewalk, costume contest, train rides, inflatables, face painting, karaoke, and other fun activities. Sponsored by Dothan Leisure Services Therapeutic Recreation program, Dothan Civitan Club, and Dothan Miracle League. Participants must be accompanied by a caregiver. All ages! Ages: Dates: Location: Fee: Coordinator: The Special Olympics swim team is open to individuals with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and up. Individuals must have the ability to swim the length of the pool. Practice is usually held twice a week from August – May. Swimmers will compete in sectional qualifiers throughout the season and could possibly qualify to compete in state competitions. Every participant must complete a Special Olympic Health and Release form prior to participation. 8 years and older Tuesdays and Thursdays (August-May) *Program will be affected by city holidays. Participants will be paired with peer athletes and compete against other unified teams. Teams will have the opportunity to qualify for state and national competitions.
