Fall 2025 Program Guide

UPCOMING PROJECTS COMING IN 2026: A STATE-OF-THE-ART PICKLBALL COMPLEX

After more than a year and a half of planning, design, site evaluations, and visiting other pickleball facilities across the region, we are thrilled to announce the construction of a state-of-the-art, covered 25-court pickleball complex. This facility will serve one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, with over 40 million players nationwide participating in both social and competitive pickleball play. Interest in pickleball has exploded in Dothan and the surrounding communities, creating the need for this facility. These new covered courts, to be located on the north side of Rip Hewes Stadium, will replace the aging and unused tennis courts currently on site. The covered design will allow for year-round, all-weather play. Our Director, Billy Powell, shared his excitement: “It’s incredible to know we’re building a premier pickleball facility—not only for our local players but for the thousands of enthusiasts who will travel here from across the region. This gives us the opportunity to host everything from local league play to major tournaments, which will bring new visitors and their economic impact to Dothan. With support from City Manager Randy Morris, Mayor Mark Saliba, our City Commissioners, Houston County, and Visit Dothan, this project is a true team effort. The economic impact is estimated to exceed $2 million annually, and we can’t wait to welcome the excitement and energy of top-tier pickleball to Dothan!” "We’re excited to manage this project on behalf of Dothan Leisure Services and the City of Dothan," said General Services Director Andrew Love. "Construction is expected to begin soon, and we anticipate the facility will be ready by Spring 2026."
