Progressive Lesson Registration Lessons in gymnastics, trampoline, swimming, and skating require activity outcome results (i.e. ready/not ready assessment) prior to registration in the next level. Check your levels online under Activity Outcomes in your online client record at newwestcity.ca/register . If your last lesson set was prior to 2021, please call the lesson facility for more information on your correct level, or for assistance with activity outcomes. GYMNASTICS & TRAMPOLINE Participants may register for multiple lessons of the same level per session. Participants can only advance to the next level if the prerequisites are met and entered into their Activity Outcomes. If you are currently enrolled in a lesson set, Activity Outcomes will be posted after your eighth lesson, or one week before the next lesson registration date. SWIMMING & SKATING Participants may only register for one lesson set at a time to ensure level prerequisites are met. Participants currently enrolled in a lesson set may not be on a waitlist for a later set. Participants who register in more than one lesson set will be withdrawn by staff, with the refund policy in effect. If you are currently enrolled in a lesson set, your Activity Outcomes will be posted after the second to last day of your lesson set. If you need a level assessment, please request an evaluation from staff during a drop-in session. Caregiver Participation Where listed, a caregiver 15+ years must accompany participants and partake in the program. Limited-capacity Drop-in Registration is available for sessions with limited space, 72 hours in advance for New Westminster residents and 48 hours in advance for everyone. Withdrawal is available in-person or by phone up to three hours in advance.

To add residency to an account, adults 19+ must provide two pieces of proof of address such as a BC Drivers License, BC ID, BC Services Card, or City of New Westminster electrical bill dated within the past three months. Features reduced noise, all water features are turned off, whistles for emergencies only, transition warnings, no PA announcements, dimmed lighting and lowered curtains. Suitable for those with autism or sensory processing needs. Open to everyone. Women’s Swim (All Ages) Swim in a private setting for women and girls. Pool Etiquette Everyone must shower with soap before entering the water. Showers are available on-deck and in all change areas. Soap is provided. Learn more at newwestcity.ca/keep-it-fresh No food is permitted in the pool or change area. No outside shoes are permitted on the pool deck. Strollers are permitted in universal change area or in the viewing area, accessible from the lobby. Children 6 years and under must be accompanied in the water by a capable swimmer 15+ years. Maximum 2 children per caregiver. Out-of-water supervision of participants is permitted at no cost for children 7+ years. 3-metre diving board and 5-metre diving platform users must be 7+ years. 1-metre diving board users 6 years and under must have a caregiver in the water. Lanes are for length swimming and water running only. Share lanes with other participants, swimming at a similar pace, and swimming on the right side of lane. Adult hot tub, steam room, and sauna users must be 15+ years. Water bottles must remain outside. Any activity that could reasonably be perceived as competing with or replicating City-run lessons or programs are not allowed.

Figure Skating (All ages) Practice figure skating on open ice. No personal music will be permitted. Stick & Puck (18+ years) Work on your skating skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. All participants must wear a helmet, gloves, and bring a hockey stick. No goalies, scrimmages, slap shots, or formal instruction. This session is designed to be slower paced. Adult Hockey (18+ years) Keep your skills sharp and the body tuned! Staff do not supervise this session and players will organize and play their own games. Each session is limited to 18 players and two goalies. Full gear is recommended. Public Skate at Queen's Park Arena (All Ages) Enjoy skating with your friends and family of all ages. After-School Drop-in (5 - 12 years) Enjoy board games and do other fun activities with library staff. Children age 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Knitting & Crochet (6 - 12 years) Knit and crochet with other children and receive guidance from staff. Get help with a project of your own or work on one of the same projects as participants. Sports Sports Drop-in - Children (9 - 12 years) Play recreational sports such as basketball, volleyball, etc. with other participants. Staff setup for a different sport each week. Join us for quality one-on-one time with your little one as we learn literacy-building rhymes and songs. Our Main Branch and Anvil Centre programs are specially geared toward infants in their first year; for older babies please see our Toddler Time program or Babytime at our Queensborough branch. Flow Yoga Flow through continuous poses with dynamic, rhythmic, and fluid movements. Functional Strength Focus on functional training with the goal of practicing movements safely and correctly. Gentle Fit (50+ years) Improve balance, strength, and stability through everyday movements in a moderate intensity class. Features chair and standing exercises. Gentle Yoga & Meditation Move through gentle, easy-on-your-body, yoga poses, followed by a guided meditation. Adult Drop-in 16+ years
Postpartum Sculpt & Stretch Sculpt, strengthen and stretch in this total body conditioning class. Each class will include safe exercises and stretches to aid in postpartum healing. All fitness levels are welcome. Bring a yoga mat and blanket for baby Power Yoga Flow through classic Hatha yoga poses for a physical challenge that promotes body, mind, and breath awareness. Please bring a yoga mat. Pilates Improve flexibility, strength, endurance, along with concentration, breathing, and overall core strength, with a precise system of exercises. Strength & Stretch Build endurance and maintain bone mass, class ends with stretching and relaxation. 50+ sessions feature modifications for greater accessibility.
Strength & Flow Fuse 30 minutes of total body conditioning with 30 minutes of power yoga. Stretch Full body stretches promote flexibility, mobility, and relaxation. Guided by an experienced instructor. Total Body Conditioning Challenge strength and endurance using resistance equipment to work all muscle groups. Vinyasa Yoga Connect movement and breath in Vinyasa Yoga for a practice that builds strength, balance, and inner peace. Zumba, Zumba Toning, Zumba Gold Boost energy with a total body workout. Fitness Attendants Our knowledgeable fitness attendants are on-site to ensure your safety during the hours below. Ask them if you need help using equipment. For hours visit: newwestcity.ca/fitness Youth Orientation (13 - 18 years) Youth must complete a brief orientation to work out independently at the Youth Centre. Up to four youth are allowed per one - hour time block. Drop-ins are welcome, but space isn’t guaranteed. Youth aged 13 - 14 can work out with an adult at the təməseẃtxʷ Aquatic and Community Centre and Queensborough Community Centres. Once they complete the youth centre orientation, adult supervision is not required. Pickleball (16+ years) A hybrid of badminton, tennis and table tennis played with paddles and a perforated ball. This fun, low-impact sport is enjoyed by players of all levels and is an excellent aerobic exercise. Please bring your own paddle and balls. Table Tennis (16+ years) Get active and socialize playing this fun sport! Please bring your own paddle. Volleyball (16+ years) Volley, bump, and pass in recreational matches.
