Caregiver Participation Swimming Level 01 - Caregiver Participation (4 - 12 months) Babies are introduced to water through songs, gradual submersion skills and back floats. Swimming Level 02 - Caregiver Participation (13 - 24 months) Begin breath control skills and basic to more advanced submersion techniques. Swimming Level 03 - Caregiver Participation (25 months - 3 years) Encourage safe and unassisted swim skills such as floats and front glide with kick.
Swimming Lessons Swimming lessons are 25 minutes long.
Caregiver participation in the water is required for any Caregiver & Tot 1, 2, & 3 classes. Levels may be combined within the same category (i.e. Level 01 and 02 - Tots) without notice to maximize the use of pool space and levels offered - participants will be taught to their level. Private Lessons Enhance your skills with private swimming lessons. Lessons are designed for all ages and abilities, and our certified instructors provide personalized, one-on-one instruction to help you build confidence, refine your technique, and achieve your aquatic goals. Private lessons are ideal for those who wish to strengthen specific skills or techniques outside the structure of a traditional swim program. Registration Fee: $34.00 / 25 minutes Swim Level Assessments Not sure what level to register in? Swim evaluations are available upon request during public swim, subject to staff availability. Ask the front desk clerk for an assessment when you check-in. If participants are 6 years or younger, an adult (15+) is required to pay for admission, and be in the water with the child during the swim assessment. Please bring your previous report card. See page 5 for public swim times. Swim Level Transfer Chart Different municipalities use different swim programs. Find your Breaking Waves Learn to Swim level that is equivalent to the Red Cross or Swim for Life programs in our transfer chart. newwestcity.ca/swim-level-charts
