Brief Description : Providing a foundation for future educators is CTEC’s solution for California’s teacher shortage. Careers in Education allow students to discover opportunities available in teaching and other school site professions teaching diverse learners. Students explore the history and philosophy of education, child guidance, child and adolescent development, classroom management, curriculum development, educational standards, and other topics.
Internship : Active class participation is enriched by internships during second semester. Students are placed in classrooms at elementary and junior high sites under the guidance of a supervising teacher. Prerequisite for internship are: TB clearance and updated immunizations. : - Child Development Assistant Permit through CDE (school age emphasis) for eligible students

High School Credits Available : 15 elective credits per semester
A-G approved course : Meets area “G” approval for UC & CSU admissions
