Early Childhood Education

Brief Description : Working with children is an opportunity to shape lives and ensure the future of our community. ROC’s Early including preschool/day care, social work, and primary school experiences. Students will learn cognitive, social emotional and physical growth characteristics for children, classroom management techniques, and lesson plan development and teaching strategies.

Course : One year AM session 7:30 AM - 10:30 AM PM session 11:45 AM - 2:45 PM

Internship : During second semester eligible students will have an opportunity to be placed in an internship (on-the-job training) at school sites in grades preschool through kindergarten. Students must have tuberculosis clearance and current MMR and Pertussis immunizations before placement.

Location : ROC High School Credits Available : 15 credits per semester (10 elective credits & 5 English credits) A-G approved course : Meets area “G” approval for UC & CSU admissions

- Mandated Reporter Training - Pest Management for Child Care Settings DPR-101

College Credits Available :

• Principles and Practices CHDV B20 - 3 units (fall semester) • Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum CHDV B36 - 3 units (spring semester)
