64) The participants can describe essential manual handling principles (Knowledge, basic level)
65) The participants can describe the further control measures and how these can be used to reduce risk of injury in the participants’ own work (Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Explain and demonstrate how to use essential manual handling principles to safely perform frequent manual handling tasks in the industry workplace
Ask the participants involving questions during the practical exercises about how to use essential manual handling principles, for example:
a. how are the essential manual handling principles followed?
b. what are the differences and similarities between the principles?
c. how will the participants be able to follow the principles in their own work?
d. in what situations is the principle of ‘good housekeeping’ relevant for safe manual handling operations?
Present and lead a discussion about further control measures and how to use these to reduce risk of musculoskeletal injury and protect pre-existing injuries. The hierarchy of control measures are illustrated by figure 8.6.1 Hierarchy of controls. Also see Annex 3 for further information
