WINTER WARM UP! EVENT | PHOTO CREDIT UCHE IROEGBU
Over the past two years, TPT has collaborated with the University of Minnesota’s Center for the Art of Medicine to produce a four-part series on the intersections of art and medicine. The second hour-long episode, Art + Medicine: Speaking of Race , premiered in April 2022 and featured physicians sharing stories about race, racism, and anti- racist efforts in the medical community. The episode won an Upper Midwest Emmy Award. One aim of Racism Unveiled was to connect with and engage Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities through relevant, accessible programming and events. Through collaboration with community- based partners, two events focused on engaging BIPOC communities in outdoors activities: • Biking Through History and for Your Health • Winter Warm Up! These events provided opportunities for people to connect with and explore outdoor activities. Biking Through History (above right) had over 75 attendees ride through South Minneapolis and Winter Warm Up! drew over 200 attendees to snow tube and cross- country ski in Theodore Wirth Regional Park.
