Meet Me at the Market After a long winter, it is so nice to see old friends and new faces each week at the Horton Market (10 Manitoba St., St. Thomas). The Horton Market is more than just getting your groceries fresh from local farmers, which is spectacular; for me, there is so much more to explore. I have my weekly stops for Serge’s Muesli from Bonjour Yum and cheese curds from Misty Glen Creamery. I see what is new with the local artisans and plant stands and maybe grab some fresh crispy spring rolls from Lotus Thai. Friendship, food, fashion and art, they have it all at the Horton Market. Won’t you meet me there? Evelyn’s Sausage Kitchen – Deli Meats and Sausage Evelyn’s Sausage Kitchen, a cherished family-owned business from Shedden, proudly showcases its delectable offerings at the Horton Farmers Market every Saturday. “Our family owns and operates Evelyn’s Sausage Kitchen in Shedden,” says Millie Clunas, the friendly face behind the counter at the Horton Market. “I have the distinct pleasure of sharing our amazing products on Saturday mornings through the retail counter at the market.” Renowned for their fresh, weekly-made sausages, Evelyn’s brings a variety of flavours to the market, including breakfast sausage, farmers sausage, garlic farmers sausage, Oktoberfest sausage, and honey garlic sausage. Alongside these, customers can find an array of ready-to-eat meats such as Polish coil, pepperoni sticks, beef jerky, Hungarian sausages, and lunch meats. “It’s definitely a toss-up for what our most popular product is,” Millie says. “Most would say it is either the famous Evelyn’s Polish coil or our pepperoni

sticks. Personally, I love the Polish coil, and if you haven’t tried it, come down to the market and ask me for a sample—you won’t be disappointed!” Evelyn’s Sausage Kitchen prides itself on being “the missing link in great taste.” Their products are made with locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, boasting a unique flavour profile that sets them apart from competitors. The knowledgeable team is always ready to answer questions about ingredients, preparation, and cooking techniques, making personalized recommendations to suit customers’ needs and preferences. If you can’t make it to the Horton Market on Saturday, Evelyn’s Sausage Kitchen has had a store at 35809 Talbot Line in Shedden for over 30 years!
