The aim of this lesson is to familiarise participants with the rules that provide safety and control in HV environments.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants can:

Learning objectives:

40) Recognise the Five Basic Safety Rules and Golden Five Rules to enact safety in HV environments (Knowledge, basic level)

The instructor shall:

Explain the Five Safety Rules under EN50110-1, and The Golden Five under NFPA 70, or a relevant equivalent:

Disconnect completely

Secure against re-connection

3.

Verify absence of operating voltage

4.

Carry out earthing and short-circuiting

5.

Provide protection against adjacent live parts

Illustrate typical workplace examples of implementing the rules on HV systems

The participants shall:

Discuss which set of rules are most applicable in their work region
