Learning objectives:
62) Explain the importance of inspection, certifications, calibration, proving and maintenance of HV tools, including hot sticks, insulated tools, and voltage detector (Knowledge, intermediate level)
63) Recognise when tools are not fit-for-use for HV work (faulty, damaged, soiled, unmarked, uncalibrated or certification out-of-date) (Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Introduce, explain and illustrate typical High Voltage Work tools and functions including:
a.
hot stick / insulated tools
b.
voltage detector device
Explain and illustrate safe use and control of HV tools:
a.
inspecting
b.
certifications
c.
calibrations
d.
proving
e.
limitations / pitfalls / common mistakes
f. maintaining, controlling and accounting for tools and material.

controls applied in different regions
The participants shall:
Engage in an exercise to identify good and bad practices in the use of HV-specific tools, including recognising tools that are fit for purpose or unfit for purpose in different situations
