20250702 HV V1

Operations training

High Voltage Standard / V1 02072025

Explain and illustrate other hazard sources such as stored energies, thermal, chemical, radiation, inductance

Explain Cross-Boundary Isolations where system control is shared with another entity such as Distribution Network Operator or Transmission Operator including:

a.

the use of inter-party documentation

b.

key safes

c.

joint isolation protocols

The participants shall:

Observe, engage in discussion and ask questions about applying HV isolations and earth safely in HV environments

Ask questions about the context where Cross-Boundary Isolations would apply and when they could encounter this in the workplace

ELEMENT 13.2 - SCENARIO BASED PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES - HV ISOLATIONS AND EARTH

HV isolations and earth scenarios should be developed to include operations proceeding as expected and a range of unexpected issues with equipment and processes, and how to act in those situations.

Note

Ideally the scenarios should where possible be based on case studies, incident reports and other relevant real-world examples from the industry.

HV isolations and earth exercises should if possible be integrated with the HV switching scenarios as appropriate, depending on the available equipment used for each exercise.

Thus, time allocated for scenario-based exercises in Lessons 11, 12, 13 and 14 can be combined or divided to provide opportunities to integrate switching, isolation, proving, earthing and testing exercises into coherent scenarios based in real-world work tasks.

The instructor shall:

Facilitate participants in practical scenarios applying HV isolations and earth in a range of simulated work tasks.

Present scenarios where the participants must assess, lead, assist and carry out designated duties as necessary in a range of HV isolations and earth.

Give constructive feedback to all participants after each scenario
