The instructor shall:
Introduce the Cable Pulling Team and responsibilities:
a. responsibilities as the leader of a cable pulling team
b.
roles of the cable pulling team members
c. role of lifting responsible person or team operating lifting equipment
Allocate participants to designated roles in communications a role play exercise
a.
practicing communications
b.
giving and receiving information clearly
c.
leading the team and the operation
d. applying safe work practices and effective team coordination
e. clarifying expectations and instructions as team member
The participants shall:
Engage in group discussion on safe and unsafe work conditions, good and bad safety behaviours using workplace examples, case studies, incident reports
Practice proper communications as team member or when leading the team and the operation in a tabletop simulated HV cable pulling operation
ELEMENT 5.2 - HAZARD AWARENESS AND MITIGATION
Learning objectives:
31) Recognise and mitigate hazards related to the environment of the cable pulling task (Knowledge, basic level)
32) Take responsibility to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and apply ergonomic principles to reduce risks during HV cable pulling (Ability, intermediate level)
33) Explain hazards related to the lifting operation during cable pulling and explain mitigation techniques, including lifting planning and work instructions for cable pulling tasks (Knowledge, intermediate level)
