Hello Delaware, it is June. At the January 24, 2023, meeting of the Ilderton and District Lions Club, Lion Meredith “Skip” Charlton was the recipient of the highest award given to Lions, the Melvin Jones Fellowship award. Lion Skip is a charter member of the Ilderton and District Lions and has been since 1954. Skip continues his service into his 69th year. Local Lion Receives Prestigious Award by Lion Murray McDonald
for the safety of users and to provide a connecting link between the two parts of Delaware across Longwoods. I will provide more information in the July/Aug Villager and post the report on my Facebook page. The next intersection to discuss is Gideon and Longwoods. It is a very busy intersection, and in my opinion, as busy as Carriage and Longwoods. The County will be doing a traffic study this fall. If these three projects are completed, we may see a sharp reduction in speed through the Village. AILSA CRAIG BACK IN THE DAY? Finally, people often attend Council meetings and wish to speak about a report/issue but have not followed the procedure to obtain delegation status. The Delaware Lioness will be at the Longwoods Road Enviro Depot from 9 am until noon collecting donations for the village flower pots on June 15th. If you like these flowerpots, please give what you can $$$. Good news! The County of Middlesex has completed the groundwork for the lights at the intersection of Carriage and Littlewood Drive. This intersection has been highly accident-prone, and these traffic lights should help with the safety of this corner. I expect this to be completed soon. start date is yet to be established. While I am writing this column on May 13th, I know that our Public Works and Engineering group will bring a report recommending a pedestrian crosswalk for Victoria and Springer. Middlesex Centre will pay for this, and funding is in place. This conversion from a school crossing to a pedestrian crossing will bring the whole light/sign package with it. I have seen and used these in the City of London, and they are very effective.
