8 day tour Pompeii, Capri and the Bay of Naples
Day 5: Capri Take a short boat ride to the beautiful island of Capri. As you approach, you’ll see small fishing boats bobbing on the water, with whitewashed shops and restaurants lining the busy quayside against a backdrop of towering cliffs. You’ll have free time to discover the island; maybe join a boat trip around the island, explore at your own will, or head to the Blue Grotto. Day 6: Naples and Herculaneum Today drive north to the cosmopolitan city of Naples. During your walking tour of the old town, a local guide will share fascinating stories about the city’s millennia of history and the local culture. Later, you’ll visit the UNESCO- listed Herculaneum in the shadow of the mighty Mount Vesuvius. Like Pompeii, it was buried under mud and ash when the volcano erupted in AD79 – the excavation began in the 18th century when the hidden secrets of this ancient settlement were revealed. Day 7: Amalfi Coast Experience the beautiful Amalfi coast on a coastal drive; taking in the exclusive resort of Positano and the stunning village of Ravello with its enchanting main square, 13th- century cathedral, and Villa Rufolo. Arrive back in Sorrento mid-afternoon with the rest of the day at leisure. Day 8: Fly to the UK Time to say goodbye to your tour group and the Mediterranean as you catch your flight back home to the UK.

Day 1: Fly from the UK to Sorrento Arrive at the airport for your flight to Naples. On arrival, you’ll transfer by coach to Sorrento, where you have a choice of carefully selected hotels to stay for seven nights. *Michelangelo Hotel is on bed & breakfast board base* Day 2: Sorrento Your first day in this centuries-old resort is at a suitably relaxed pace, beginning with a short walking tour. Sorrento is dotted with shops selling luxury leather goods and shoes and cosy restaurants. The region has a long history of lemon cultivation; 60% of which goes into making limoncello liqueur. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore at leisure. Day 3: Pompeii Your guided tour of the Roman town highlights its astonishing state of preservation - the streets, temples, baths, and amphitheatre remain largely intact. Much of our knowledge about the Roman way of life, their habits, social structure, class system, and domestic arrangements come from Pompeii. Day 4: Free day Today is a free day at leisure in Sorrento; perhaps to browse the town’s boutiques or enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the many restaurants.
