The lemon posset with rhubarb compote and piggie shaped shortbread biscuit was the perfect way to end our working lunch – sweet but tangy. On his way home, Gavin passed by the recently landscaped Albion Place park which was one of the projects earmarked for creation in the Old Town Development Strategy. The Pig in the Wall is now a favourite Southampton meeting place and the menu is always tempting with a fair smattering of pork-based delights. Being a vegetarian, I opted for the quiche while Gavin was tempted by the freshly made sausage roll. We tucked into a selection of delicious salads and chatted about current projects for the Regenerate South Action Group. As the plates were cleared and we agreed we really should have a pudding, a shared interest in growing fruit and veg emerged. It turns out Gavin and his husband have an allotment and my partner and I have also been battling to tame our plot for the past 20 years. We all now understand that having an allotment is even harder than regeneration projects.
