June 30th, 2025, marked 38 years of PNG Air flying
500,000 passengers annually before the COVID-19 pandemic, and supported by nearly 600 employees across the nation. In addition to scheduled passenger flights, PNG Air plays a critical role in providing economic support through its charter and cargo services, helping local industries, businesses and communities thrive. Looking ahead, PNG Air is positioning itself for a new phase of growth, including the transition to an all-ATR fleet to strengthen operational efficiency and enhance service on domestic routes while exploring new regional opportunities.
Papua New Guineans home and honouring nearly four decades of connecting the people and places of this nation. This year’s anniversary holds extra special meaning as it coincides with our country’s own 50th anniversary of
independence – a national milestone that underscores the importance of belonging, perseverance and ambition.
Today, PNG Air serves 23 destinations across the country with a mixed fleet of Dash 8-100s and ATR 72- 600s, carrying close to
reminded us why we do what we do – getting people home”. PNG Air’s photo contest has proved that an anniversary can be more than an internal milestone – it can become a nationwide invitation to tell stories. In giving its passengers the viewfinder, PNG Air ended up with a priceless marketing asset: authentic images (and goodwill) ready to be reused in everything from boarding pass backs to our inflight magazine. As one commenter wrote below the winners’ reel, “Thanks for letting us show the world how beautiful home looks from 10,000 feet.”
