Welcoming Our Newest Attorney: Monique Scott
have anyone with the background to help them. We will be taking on more criminal cases, for example. I’ve done some criminal law in the past, but it’s never been my focus. I limit the few criminal cases I do take to drug- or DUI-related cases. With my law enforcement background, these are the types of cases I was most comfortable with. Monique has prosecuted everything from misdemeanor cases to felony and juvenile. She’s also worked in several specialty divisions, so her prosecuting resume is well-rounded. She’s familiar with many aspects of family law, too, so we may even take on those cases as they come through. While we recently opened up an office in Riverview, Monique will be working predominantly out of our Tampa office. Our attorneys typically work out of the Tampa office because it’s five minutes from downtown and very close to the courthouse. So, it’s very efficient. This is why we set up good communication options for our clients and between our Tampa and Riverview offices. Our clients don’t need to commute to downtown if it’s not necessary. It’s a big time and money saver.
This month, I want to introduce you to the newest member of our law firm: Monique Scott! She joins us with seven years of litigation experience, and her expertise opens new practice areas for our firm. In short, she brings a lot to the table for our clients. Interestingly enough, I’ve known Monique on and off for the past several years. She and I actually went to the police academy together, and we ended up in law school together. We were even in the same class! After surviving the rigorous demands of the police academy and law school, we didn’t talk much or keep in touch, so it was a bit of a surprise to see Monique. After law school, Monique went on to join the state attorney office. She served as assistant state attorney for the state Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. She also served as a prosecutor for Hillsborough County, successfully trying a number of cases. Recently, an opportunity presented itself, and I reached out to Monique about the possibility of her joining the firm. After some discussion, she left the state attorney office and joined us! With Monique joining the team, it gives us the option to offer more services to our clients and work with clients we might not have otherwise been able to help simply because we didn’t
This year is off to a great start, and I’m glad to have Monique on the team. She’s a great addition, and when it comes down to it, any time we can do more to help clients is a huge win in my book. Now, with Monique in the office, we’ll be able to offer so much more.
P.S. I want to send a special thank-you to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office once again, as well as the HCSO’s Hispanic Advisory Council. They were a huge help to us over the holidays with our toy drive. Together, we were able to help local families and give gifts to kids in need around the Tampa Bay and District 4 area. Thank you!
