Goosegrass Control in Bermudagrass with Sencor ® : 2022 Update Controlling tillered goosegrass is difficult in bermudagrass turf. Historically, the combination of Sencor plus MSMA was an effective treatment, but turf phytotoxicity was always a concern. In addition, restrictions on the use of MSMA limits its usefulness in turf and is not registered in some states. Recent research - Clemson University, North Carolina State University, and Virginia Tech have shown excellent goosegrass control and good bermudagrass safety with Sencor alone or combined with other herbicides, including: o Sencor at 8 oz/A immediately watered in with 0.2-0.25 inch of irrigation o Sencor (4 oz/A) + Pylex ® (0.15 oz/A) + Tribute ® Total (3.2 oz/A) + 0.5% v/v methylated seed oil, but delay irrigation until that evening or the following morning • Use sites – Sencor can be applied to fairways, roughs, or other bermudagrass turf at a mowing height of 0.5 inch or higher • Repeat application – A repeat application can be made, but do not make closer than 1 week after the previous application. Do not make more than 2 applications per season to actively growing turf • Need more info? – Read and follow all label information. Contact your Bayer Area Sales Manager if you need assistance

Tire tracks sometimes can show up after a Sencor application. This is temporary and will usually dissipate within 7-10 days (Dr. Bert McCarty, Clemson)

Watering in Sencor after application is required to maximize turf safety on Bermudagrass but does not affect control of goosegrass. (Dr. Bert McCarty, Clemson)
